Hansen Kids go on a Missouri trip!!

June 12, 2012 Dick, Nancy, Rob, Kathleen, Chuck and I met in Kansas City - rented a mini-van and hit the trail to view all of our old stomping grounds from growing up in the Independence and Leeton area - we had soooo much fun.  A highlight was attending a session together of the newly dedicated Kansas City Temple.  The list the next three days included the Liberty Jail, Independence Chapel site and accompanying surroundings,  our homes we had lived in on 35th street, Woodland and Grand.  William Chrisman High School where we all graduated and many familiar things around Independence.  Had lunch at Mugs Up which the Adlards owned for years and Mom had worked as a car hop to help support Dick on his mission We found the building in Warrensburg where we attended a Sunday School above the Masonic Lodge.  We drove all around the Leeton and Windsor area checking out High Point Baptist Church, the Phillips 66 pump station where we lived, Valley Grove one room school house that we all attended, Leeton school and drove all the back roads with gorgeous Missouri scenery.  We spent a night with Uncle Ron and Aunt Bea in Sedalia and loved visiting with them and seeing the homes in and near Sedalia that Grandma and Grandpa Raymer had lived in, also the first little chapel we attended in Sedalia and then the gorgeous one that Grandpa was very instrumental in getting approved and built that made the church really grow.  We had a wonderful few days together and came home totally "remembered out!!"

CALL CAME . . . May 18, 2012

Dominican Republic - Caribbean Area Auditors  . . . . WOW WOW WOW  We never thought of this possibility!  It sounds exotic and exciting.  We have already skyped twice with Janet and Lynn Snow the couple that we will be replacing.  We go in the MTC August 6th and travel to the DR August 11th.  This has a familiar feel as we are assigned to an area again and will be serving with other area missionary couples.  We feel like this is something we will enjoy and CAN DO - at least that is our attitude!  The Snows sent us this that has been listed in the missionary opportunities for a couple of months they said.  We had not seen it:  Auditing Department
Coordinator: Dan Dahlgren
Local: (801) 240-5639
Toll Free: (800) 453-3860 ext. 2-5639
Area Auditor and Assistant Area Auditor Qualifications
Individuals who have served in leadership callings such as bishop,
stake president, area seventy, temple president, or mission
president are ideal for area auditor and assistant area auditor
assignments. Basic computer skills are necessary. Financial work
experience is helpful but not required. The Church Auditing
Department will train missionary couples for these assignments
prior to the couple entering the mission field.
Area Auditor
An area auditor is called and assigned to each area of the
Church. This assignment is sometimes filled by a missionary
couple. The Elder serves as the area auditor and the sister assists
him with his responsibilities. This is a wonderful opportunity
for a missionary couple to serve the Lord by helping
protect sacred Church funds. The primary responsibility of
the area auditor couple is to train and supervise assistant area
auditors. This couple also helps ensure Church financial and
auditing policy is implemented throughout the area. The term
of service required is twenty-three months. Currently, an area
auditor couple is needed in the Caribbean Area (Santo Domingo,
Dominican Republic.)

Preparing for our second mission . . .

We have been on hold since submitting to Bishop Moss - I had pending surgery and "the brethren don't issue calls with that going on" - makes sense. We just wanted to get them off to see what would happen next knowing I would be ready to serve a couple of months after surgery on April 3, 2012.

Checked off the get ready to go list . . .
Big Sealing Day of Chuck to his parents - what a great day in the Mesa Temple of getting Dad Rucker's work done! March 23, 2012
Chuck and Vickie Rucker Reunion with all of our own kids/gkids at Jason and Angela's home . . . SUCH MEMORIES
Took Brooke, Jaren and Abby to the Grand Canyon and a session of General Conference . . . such good kids and we hope they still love us!!
Had some surgery done to get ready to activate our papers to receive our mission call. Recovery going well . . .

WAHOOOOO - we just submitted mission papers electronically to Bishop Moss . . . we are feeling very techy . . . now we will see what happens next. This has been trying with the things that have come up physically in preparing for this mission. Expensive also$$$$ I am recovering from "gum grafting " on my gums - sign of aging I suppose. Also have surgery scheduled for April 3rd for lifting that needs taken care of and a possible hysterectomy - the surgeon will see when he is there what needs to be done.
We are sooooo looking forward to the sealing of Chuck's parents on March 23rd and all of the kids coming for this event. It will be a family reunion for us and we savor and look forward to these events!
